Our Curriculum

“Strive to Achieve our BEST”

At our school, we believe every child deserves an ambitious, engaging and inclusive education that prepares them for success in school and beyond.

Our curriculum is designed to develop knowledgeable, confident and responsible learners who are equipped with the skills, understanding and attitudes needed to thrive in modern Britain and contribute positively to society.

Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, children build knowledge over time, make meaningful connections between subjects and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum is underpinned by our school values, curriculum drivers and core expectations, which are woven through every lesson, experience and interaction.

Our School Values

We strive to achieve our BEST through:

Belief

We believe in ourselves and others. We develop confidence, resilience and a positive mindset so that children understand they can overcome challenges and achieve their potential.

Effort

We recognise that success comes through determination, perseverance and hard work. Children are encouraged to embrace challenge and always give their best.

Success

We celebrate achievement in all its forms, recognising progress, personal growth and academic excellence.

Teamwork

We work together, support one another and contribute positively to our school community. Children learn the importance of collaboration, empathy and shared responsibility.

Core Curriculum Drivers

Our curriculum is shaped by three drivers that prepare children for life beyond the classroom.

Curiosity

We want children to develop a genuine desire to know more and understand more.

Children are encouraged to:

  • Ask questions
  • Investigate and explore
  • Think critically
  • Develop a love of learning

Through curiosity, children become active learners who seek understanding and embrace new experiences.

Community

We want children to develop a strong sense of belonging and understand their place within local, national and global communities.

Children are encouraged to:

  • Value diversity
  • Respect different perspectives
  • Understand their responsibilities
  • Contribute positively to society

Through community, children develop empathy, citizenship and a sense of purpose.

Communication

We want children to become confident communicators who can participate fully in learning and life.

Children are encouraged to:

  • Speak confidently
  • Listen actively
  • Read widely
  • Write effectively
  • Share ideas respectfully

Through communication, children learn to express themselves and engage meaningfully with others.

Our Values

Everything we do is built upon three simple expectations:

Be Ready -  to Learn

Children arrive prepared, focused and willing to engage in learning.

Be Respectful - to Everyone

Children show kindness, consideration and respect towards themselves, others and their environment.

Be Safe - All the Time

Children make responsible choices that help create a secure and supportive environment for everyone.

These expectations create the conditions in which children can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

Curriculum Aims

Our curriculum aims to ensure that all children:

  • Acquire a broad and deep body of knowledge across all subjects.
  • Develop strong communication, literacy and mathematical skills.
  • Become curious learners who ask questions and seek understanding.

Curriculum Principles

Our curriculum is designed to ensure children:

Know More

Children develop a rich body of knowledge that builds progressively from year to year.

Remember More

Learning is revisited and connected so that important knowledge is retained in long-term memory.

Do More

Children apply their knowledge and skills confidently in a range of meaningful contexts.

Curriculum Structure

Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure progression from Early Years through to Year 6.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Children develop the foundations for future learning through exploration, communication, play and first-hand experiences.

Key Stage One

Children begin to build core knowledge, vocabulary and understanding across all subjects.

Lower Key Stage Two

Children deepen their knowledge, make connections across learning and develop increasing independence.

Upper Key Stage Two

Children apply and refine their knowledge, think critically and prepare successfully for secondary education.
